Ukrainian mother of two, Kseniia Iaremych (pictured right) who came over to Swindon as part of the Homes for Ukraine Scheme, is bringing a classical concert she first premiered in London, to Old Town in Swindon.  Kseniia has joined forces with 'Swindon Welcomes Ukraine' through their Chair Sofiia Volovyk (pictured left), to bring professional Ukrainian and European musicians together for a night of spectacular performances on Saturday 10th December.

The event was firstly held in London in November to a packed crowd of 300 people and raised £3300 for two Ukrainian charities.  After its success the event is now being brought to Swindon, where Ksenia now lives with her family.

“My classically trained background has allowed me to use my love of music to help the most in need in our country, through charity concerts. I have brought together some of the best professional musicians I’ve ever met in the music business.  I am so grateful to the people of this country for supporting Ukrainians and I hope this concert can give back something special to Swindon whilst supporting two charities dear to my heart.”

The event called “Classics for Ukraine" has been created as a fundraiser for two Charities that help Ukrainians:

CF “Patients of Ukraine provide Orthofix systems, that support injured civilians who have complex limb fractures with prosthetics , and

UUF/Embraceme will purchase and deliver an ex-NHS ambulance and medical supplies.

The event will be held at Christchurch in Old Town, a beautiful church built in 1851 by Sir George Gilbert Scott, nestled on the hill in Swindon’s Old town.

The five performers, who will be playing from a range of composers and pieces, will be joined by 'The Wessex' a Wiltshire men’s amateur choir, who will provide a second act of choral classics.

Kseniia came over to the UK in June 2022 under the Homes for Ukraine scheme, and lived with a host family in Rye, to escape the conflict in Ukraine.  After securing work, whilst looking after two children, she has moved her family to Swindon, where they now rent a flat in Swindon. Kseniia is committed to helping support the growing Ukrainian community in the area so has joined forces with Sofiia Volovyk, the chair of the Swindon Welcomes Ukraine committee who walked from Swindon to Scotland this summer to also raise money for Ukrainian aid charities.

“It’s fantastic to bring such an amazing collection of musicians to Swindon,” said Sofiia, “It is all part of our aim to create a welcoming environment for Ukrainians here, we have over 250 who have arrived this year that are being supported by 130 amazing hosts. I am excited about the future of our growing community”.
